During the last three decades, we have observed a rising trend in domestic worker exploitation, harassment and abuse in Delhi. Most of the in-house domestic workers have been lured by unscrupulous placement agencies that even retain their salary so that they cannot run away. After rescue, most domestic workers are not in a mental and physical state to stay at women shelter homes run by government agencies due to the deplorable conditions existing there. We provide rescued domestic workers with boarding, lodging, medical / legal aid and counseling and repatriate them with their family, if desired by the domestic worker. There is no fixed number of domestic workers that are rescued but it typically ranges from 0 to 5 per month. Cost for helping a rescued woman domestic worker: Boarding / Lodging – Rs. 2,500 p.m. Personal expenses – Rs. 1,000 p.m. Medical / Legal aid and counseling support – Rs. 1,500 p.m. Total Cost for one woman – Rs. 5,000 p.m. Cost for helping 2 rescued women domestic workers – Rs. 10,000
